Invented in the mid-1700s
It may surprise you to know that milling machines have been around for hundreds of years. In the mid-1700s, French inventor Jacques de Vaucanson filed a patent for a rotary file that mimicked the way milling machines work today. Just a few decades later, Samuel Rehe invented a working milling machine. Since then, milling machines have become one of the most widely used machines in the manufacturing industry.
